Don’t buy your supplements at big box stores

The main difference between methylcobalamin and cyanocobalamin lies in their chemical structure and how the body processes them. 🌄 Methylcobalamin is a form of vitamin B12 found in nature that already has a methyl group attached, making it readily available for the body to use.

💊Cyanocobalamin, on the other hand, contains a cyanide molecule, which the body must convert into usable forms like methylcobalamin. Cyanocobalamin is a synthetic form of vitamin B12. It is created in a laboratory setting and is not found in nature as is.

Methylcobalamin is considered more bioactive and easily absorbed, often preferred for supplements. Cyanocobalamin, although widely used, requires extra metabolic steps for the body to convert it into active forms, and it may release a small amount of cyanide during this process. 🤢

Most supplements are being “third party tested” which is important to make sure it has what it says it has in it, BUT we prefer supplements that are also tested for their mechanism of action in the human body. Meaning, not only does it have what it says it has, the body can actually absorb it!

Also, did you know that most practitioners are using private labels now? Which means they are taking a supplement they know and love, and then putting their own label on it. This can be deceiving because it looks like they are formulating their own products, but they really aren’t.
